Registered Psychologist

Helen is a Registered Psychologist with a passion for diagnostic assessment and has been conducting assessments for the past 16 years. She prides herself on providing a comfortable, safe and inclusive experience. She has a relaxed approach and works through a neurodiversity-affirming lens meaning she appreciates that we are all different in the way that we think, learn and express ourselves. We all have unique strengths and differences and assessments can be a first step in understanding and accepting your brain style and forming an authentic identity.

Helen conducts comprehensive psychological assessments for children and teens for a range of presentations, including intellectual functioning, memory, executive functioning, ADHD, Autism, specific learning disorders (dyslexia, dyscalculia and dysgraphia), as well as mental health (anxiety, depression, trauma). For Autism assessments, Helen is trained in both the ADOS-2 and MIGDAS-2 diagnostic assessments. Helen is also a Board-approved supervisor and passionate about supervising Psychologists in assessments at all stages of their career.

Helen has experience working as a Psychologist in private practice, a Senior Clinician in out-of-home-care and disability services, a Guidance Counsellor in primary education, a Research Officer for Mater Research and a Casual Academic in tertiary education. Helen completed her undergraduate studies in psychology at Griffith University and postgraduate studies at the University of Southern Queensland. Helen is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), has membership with the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and is a Medicare provider.

Start the process

To begin psychological therapy or an assessment

You do not need a referral to see a psychologist for therapy or assessment. However, Medicare rebates are available for those who have a Mental Health Care Plan. To obtain a Mental Health Care Plan, you will need to visit your GP or a Psychiatrist or a Paediatrician. Medicare rebates are not offered for assessments.

To book an appointment with a Paediatrician, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist or Paediatric Neurologist

For an appointment with one of our medical specialists, please see your General Practitioner (GP) or current medical specialist and discuss a referral to our service. A referral from a GP or medical specialist is required, and once this has been received, our team will be in contact with you.

To begin speech therapy or a language assessment

You do not need a referral to see a speech pathologist for an assessment or therapy. However, Medicare rebates may be available for those who have a Chronic Disease GP Management Plan or Team Care Arrangement. You will need to speak with your GP to determine if you are eligible for referral under these schemes. Medicare referrals are also available under a Complex Neurodevelopmental Disorder or other eligible disability (including Autism) scheme. Speak to your child’s GP, Paediatrician or Psychiatrist for a referral under this scheme.
