Occupational Therapist

Cindy is an experienced senior occupational therapist (OT) who has worked as a paediatric OT for 30 years. She has had the opportunity to gain a broad range of skills and knowledge while working with children and adolescents across the hospital (inpatients and outpatients), community child health, adolescent mental health and private practice settings. She values collaboration with other service providers including heath care and medical professionals, school and childcare staff, to provide a holistic approach to the care of clients and their carers focused on learning, life skills, functional capacity, managing behaviours, sleep and performance.
Cindy’s clinical responsibilities have included carrying out a wide range of formal and informal assessments and clinical observations in various environments relevant to the child. She has also provided diverse therapy interventions to meet the needs of families, teachers and kindy staff.
Cindy is passionate about working in the area of Paediatric Functional Neurological Disorder (FND/FSS) and has extensive experience working in hospital inpatient and outpatient settings and private practice over the past 8 years. Cindy was the lead occupational therapist involved in setting up the multi-disciplinary outpatient FND clinic and adolescent and young adult service at the Gold Coast Hospital and presented at the QLD FND Symposium in 2023 and 2024. Cindy contributed to the recently published review article Managing Functional Neurological Disorder: Treatment Recommendations for Health Professionals in Australia. 2025 and is currently collaborating with a team of allied health professionals in the USA to establish Paediatric FND Consensus Guidelines for Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists.

Start the process

To begin psychological therapy or an assessment

You do not need a referral to see a psychologist for therapy or assessment. However, Medicare rebates are available for those who have a Mental Health Care Plan. To obtain a Mental Health Care Plan, you will need to visit your GP or a Psychiatrist or a Paediatrician. Medicare rebates are not offered for assessments.

To book an appointment with a Paediatrician, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist or Paediatric Neurologist

For an appointment with one of our medical specialists, please see your General Practitioner (GP) or current medical specialist and discuss a referral to our service. A referral from a GP or medical specialist is required, and once this has been received, our team will be in contact with you.

To begin speech therapy or a language assessment

You do not need a referral to see a speech pathologist for an assessment or therapy. However, Medicare rebates may be available for those who have a Chronic Disease GP Management Plan or Team Care Arrangement. You will need to speak with your GP to determine if you are eligible for referral under these schemes. Medicare referrals are also available under a Complex Neurodevelopmental Disorder or other eligible disability (including Autism) scheme. Speak to your child’s GP, Paediatrician or Psychiatrist for a referral under this scheme.
