Greta Haycock is a Registered Psychologist (Provisional) having completed her Bachelor of Psychological Science with Honours in 2021 at The University of Queensland. She has a particular interest in working with young people and adults who experience anxiety.
Greta is working at The Brainy Bunch under the supervision of Clinical Director, Dr Cynthia Turner. Her role as a provisional psychologist means that she has completed her academic psychology training and is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia. Greta’s skills and academic achievements have been high enough that she was selected for this immensely competitive psychology position, which means that she is now working clinically under the direction of her supervisors. Of the many hundreds of applicants who apply for these positions, our clinic is only able to offer 1-2 positions per year. Greta will complete her clinical training at the end of 2024, which will then allow her to attain full registration. Not being fully registered means that she is not eligible to bill under Medicare in 2024 (i.e. a Medicare rebate cannot be obtained).
From a young age, Greta has had a strong desire to help people, and she loves making meaningful connections and a positive difference, no matter how big or small, for the clients she works with.
Outside of work, Greta enjoys many active hobbies including netball and touch football, as well as spending time at the beach. She enjoys reading and she especially values quality time with her family and friends.
HOW TO
To begin psychological therapy or an assessment
You do not need a referral to see a psychologist for therapy or assessment. However, Medicare rebates are available for those who have a Mental Health Care Plan. To obtain a Mental Health Care Plan, you will need to visit your GP or a Psychiatrist or a Paediatrician. Medicare rebates are not offered for assessments.
To book an appointment with a Paediatrician, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist or Paediatric Neurologist
For an appointment with one of our medical specialists, please see your General Practitioner (GP) or current medical specialist and discuss a referral to our service. A referral from a GP or medical specialist is required, and once this has been received, our team will be in contact with you.
To begin speech therapy or a language assessment
You do not need a referral to see a speech pathologist for an assessment or therapy. However, Medicare rebates may be available for those who have a Chronic Disease GP Management Plan or Team Care Arrangement. You will need to speak with your GP to determine if you are eligible for referral under these schemes. Medicare referrals are also available under a Complex Neurodevelopmental Disorder or other eligible disability (including Autism) scheme. Speak to your child’s GP, Paediatrician or Psychiatrist for a referral under this scheme.
